Description
National Industries for the Blind is seeking 508 Accessibility & Usability Conformance Analysts for future openings. We are pursuing opportunities throughout the country that will require 508 Compliance experience. These potential openings will be located across country with our Associate Agencies. You will serve as a member of the 508 Assurance Service project teams and facilitate 508 testing, validation and remediation of web sites/portals; web/legacy applications, and documents.
Qualifications

Minimum qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree, preferably computer sciences, web development/design, graphic design, or knowledge acquired through extensive work-related experience. Equivalent work experience may replace preferred degree completion.
  • One (1) to Five (5) years of specialized experience organizing and supporting the implementation of Section 508 and Software Quality Assurance testing.
  • Demonstrated experience with assistive technology (e.g., screen readers, accessibility validation tools), HTML coding, CSS (style sheets), and software (e.g., Dreamweaver, JavaScript, PDF, Flash), as well as file and media formats.
  • Must be able to write test summaries and test analysis summaries.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provides Section 508 conformance and usability testing of web sites; legacy and web-based applications and documents to assist public and private sector clients
  • Conforms with the requirements of Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and improve the usability of web sites; applications, and documents for individuals with disabilities in accordance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines.
  • Conducts accessibility and usability assessments, documenting defects in a concise manner.
  • Provides systemic recommendations to remediate documented defects and assists in the development of strategies to facilitate the implementation of recommendations consistent with project requirements.
  • Insures that web applications and content; hardware, software, and other applicable electronic and information technologies (E & IT) conform to current Section 508 accessibility requirements.
  • Provide scripting for assistive technological devices as appropriate.
